This Week is Project Lock in Week. I reached out to a bunch of different student apartment properties around RIT in hopes that one of them would be interested in letting me capture one of there show rooms for free in exchange for a cool marketing video. Luckily, The Marshall emailed me back, so this Friday I will be doing that. Then I have the weekend to put together some cool real estate advertisement.
I have been capturing many splats so this week as well but I have been running into some problems. I have capturted now about 3-4 splats. 2 of my room, 1 of a place on campus, and one of an outdoor location with my drone. The problem is that I processed all of them with my free version of PostShot. This is a problem because when you import Free Post Shot Splats into Unreal Engine they have a water mark. So I bit the bullet and purchased the paid version (for a monthly fee that I have to remember to cancel when I am done with this), but the problem is now I cant open the free splats that I did and I have to reprocess them in order to use them.
On the other end of the spectrum in Unreal Engine I have been looking into how to relight and add different CGI elements into Splats. I have found some promising results from a paid plugin called Volinga. I have spent the past three days trying to get it to work (I paid $15 for it), but Im just so lucky that until Sept 30th they are doing server maintence and as a result I cant access any splats in Unreal Engine any more either. The good news is that I have started reprocessing the splats with the paid version of Post Splat, and I have made contact with the support team of Volinga and it looks like I should have access soon. So Im hoping to make great strides of progress the next week!
